College Basketball Picks - Thursday, February 5

A dreadful day yesterday means the return of comments today.  Comments may become more frequent as we creep closer and closer to Selection Sunday (it's still so far away D:)

Richmond +2 @ La Salle.  The team who just won at VCU is getting points here?  Surely a trap but I can't help but fall in to it as I've liked the Spiders all year.
0-0-1

Michigan +2 v. Iowa.  If the Hawkeyes lose that's gonna make the middle of the S-curve for tomorrow's bracket even more of a mess so of course that's happening.
0-1

Auburn +11 @ LSU.  Bruce Pearl's kids seem to be improving and I'm not taking LSU to blow out anyone right now.
1-1

Drexel +3.5 @ Elon.  Damion Lee, he's so hot right now.  Yeah Zoolander was on this morning.
2-1

Marshall -4.5 v. Rice.  Houston to West Virginia is quite a hike.
3-1

Houston +6.5 v. Tulsa.  Just thinking this will be close, though every Tulsa game has been close lately.  This may be the night they get tagged, believe it or not.
3-2

William & Mary -5.5 @ Charleston.  Tribe are really starting to emerge from the CAA.  Now watch them lose here.
3-3

Florida International -3 v. Texas San Antonio.  Panthers are one of the few teams who have been good to me lately.
3-4

Georgia State -4 @ Georgia Southern.  The preseason favorite in the Sun Belt versus the current leaders.  I think the upperclassmen heavy Panthers are about to make a push.
3-5

Western Kentucky -10 v. North Texas.  Love the Toppers at home, especially against cannon fodder like UNT.
3-6

Green Bay -14 v. Milwaukee.  Phoenix had no problem in Milwaukee and they shouldn't have one here.
3-7

Southern Miss +13.5 @ Middle Tennessee State.  Just a point or two too high.
4-7

UTEP -8 @ Florida Atlantic.  Should be straightforward for the Miners.
4-8

UL Lafayette -11.5 v. Appalachian State.  Lafayette has a strong enough offense to feel confident taking them against double digit spreads.  Can't say that about a lot of teams these days.
5-8

Arkansas Little Rock -3 v. UL Monroe.  I don't think I've gotten a single ULAR game right when I've taken them.  First time for everything, right?
5-9

Arkansas State -4.5 v. Troy.  Picking against Troy is a hell of a drug.
5-10

UCLA +7 @ Stanford.  Stanford losing would really screw up the middle of that S-curve as well.  I think the Bruins are on the right track and this could be a fantastic game.  Hopefully it's half as good as the meeting in Westwood.
6-10

SMU -6.5 v. Cincinnati.  Has anyone figured out how Cincy lost at East Carolina at the weekend?
6-11

Louisiana Tech -4.5 @ UAB.  Seems generous.
6-12

San Francisco -4 v. Portland.  Pilots are maybe the biggest disappointment in the WCC.
6-13

San Diego -3 @ Loyola Marymount.  Other than the perpetually disappointing Lions, of course.  Some day somebody's gonna bring back the Paul Westhead days.  I just hope I'm alive to see that day.
6-14

Cal Poly -6 v. Hawaii.  Alan Williams Project is easily the most disappointing Big West side but the Bows are a close second.
6-15

UC Davis +9 @ UC Irvine.  Crazy line.
7-15

Long Beach State -12 v. UC Riverside.  The Beach is ripping through the Big West right now.
7-16

CS Northridge +4.5 @ CS Fullerton.  Both have fallen on hard times.
7-17

Washington State +7.5 @ Oregon State.  Feels like a couple points too many.
8-17

BYU -2.5 @ Pepperdine.  Revenge game after the embarrassing home loss at the Marriott.
8-18

Gonzaga -16 @ Santa Clara.  My goodness what a gift.
8-19

USC +8 @ California.  Reminder that Cal was once 10-1.
9-19

Morehead State -15 v. Tennessee State.  Reminder that Tennessee State is only not a SWAC team because it's too far away from everyone else in the league.
9-19-2

Monmouth +5.5 @ Quinnipiac.  I probably should've given up on the Hawks by now but meh.
9-20

Chattanooga -5 @ Furman.  Gotta say I'm surprised they're Wofford's top challenger.
9-21

Wofford +1 @ East Tennessee State.  Wow, GETTING a point?
10-21

Oral Roberts -1.5 @ IUPUI.  This used to be a bigtime low major matchup.  Now it's completely irrelevant.
11-21

Western Carolina -7.5 v. Samford.  Feels like I take WCU in every game they play.
11-22

South Dakota State -3 @ IPFW.  Jackrabbits have done a good job of keeping their program strong after losing Nate Wolters.
11-23

North Dakota State -10 v. Nebraska-Omaha.  I still can't believe UNO has bottomed out this badly.
11-24

South Dakota -7.5 v. Western Illinois.  I have ZERO clue what I'm getting from them game in and out but I know what I'm getting from WIU (bad basketball.)
12-24

Rider -9.5 v. Fairfield.  Sydney Johnson leaving Princeton for Fairfield has to be one of the more baffling coaching moves of the last decade.
12-25

Murray State -14 v. SE Missouri State.  Time for a blowout after some recent close games.
12-26

Tennessee Martin -4 @ Austin Peay.  Heath Schroyer struggled at Wyoming a few years ago but he's done a great job in year 1 with the Skyhawks.
13-26

Northern Arizona -5 v. Northern Colorado.  The team at home can defend, the other team can't.
13-26-3

North Dakota +2.5 @ Southern Utah.  See South Dakota/WIU comment.
14-26

Idaho -2 @ Montana State.  Still weird to see the Vandals in the Big Sky even if it makes perfect geographical sense.
15-26

Belmont +5 @ Eastern Kentucky.  Nice to see this matchup on ESPNU.
15-27

Montana -1 v. Eastern Washington.  Big time Big Sky showdown.
15-28

Mount St. Mary's +2.5 @ Bryant.  Nice to see THIS matchup on ESPNU.
16-28

Holy Cross +1 v. Colgate.  The Patriot's biggest surprise versus the biggest disappointment.  We'll take the disappointment because nothing makes sense in the Patriot this year.
17-28
