Grip's Bracket - Friday, February 6

As stated previously we're weekly from here on out.

Automatic Bids

America East - Albany
The Great Danes survived a 30 foot prayer off the back rim against New Hampshire on Wednesday to become the second team after Gonzaga to get to 10-0 in conference play, staying two clear of Vermont and three clear of Stony Brook.
Atlantic Sun - North Florida
UNF lost by 5 to South Carolina Upstate on Saturday to fall in to a first place tie with Florida Gulf Coast but the 80-64 win on January 14 over Dunk City remains the tiebreaker for now.  The Ospreys have a quick turnaround at Upstate next Thursday after what should be a layup against Jacksonville tonight.
Big Sky - Sacramento State
They were idle this week after nipping Montana by a point at the weekend but this might be a two team race now that Eastern Washington went to Missoula and knocked off the Griz last night.  They're tied with the Hornets in the loss column and the two hook up next Thursday at the thankfully-not-red Reese Court.
Big South - Radford
The Highlanders won 67-64 at High Point to climb in to first place with the Panthers and sweep the season series.  They've won 8 straight after starting conference play 0-3.  Traditional power Winthrop is a half game back of those two.
Big West - UC Davis
The shocking season had its most shocking result last night, as Jim Les' kids went in to Irvine and absolutely STOMPED the Anteaters.  They still haven't lost in the Lower 48 in 2015 but the Beach is right there with them atop the conference after holding off UC Riverside.
CAA - William & Mary
A shock loss at Charleston last night drops the Tribe back in to a first place tie with Northeastern and UNC Wilmington - whom they play tomorrow in North Carolina - but they keep the bid thanks to owning wins over both.
Horizon - Green Bay
The Phoenix took care of Milwaukee last night to remain in a three way tie with Valparaiso and Cleveland State.  Each is 1-1 against the other two so Green Bay keeps the auto thanks to having the best RPI and KenPom of the three.  No weekend game for them but two road games in as many days next week with a trip to Youngstown State on Wednesday before the rematch at Valpo on Friday.
Ivy - Yale
The Bulldogs got a couple of battles at Columbia and Cornell last weekend but survived both.  Dartmouth comes calling tonight before the showdown with Harvard, who remains a game back, tomorrow night.
MAC - Buffalo
The Bulls are 6-3 and are tied for first place with Bowling Green, Akron, Kent State and Toledo.  They have the best RPI and KenPom rating and also haven't lost to any of the other teams they're tied with.  Central and Western Michigan are each a game back of those teams.  This league has not disappointed.
MAAC - Iona
The Gaels got snowed out on Monday at Fairfield after surviving in OT against St. Peter's on Saturday and then getting in to a postgame scuffle with the Peacocks, of which AJ English was at the center of.  He's suspended for tonight's game with Siena but they shouldn't need him to handle the Saints.
MEAC - North Carolina Central
The beat goes on for the Eagles, who doubled up hapless Florida A&M on Monday to send the Rattlers to 0-22.  They lost a weird nonconference game to East Tennessee State on Saturday - much of the MEAC played noncon games this week - but remain unbeaten in the league.
NEC - St. Francis (NY)
The Terriers trailed at the half at 3-21 Central Connecticut State last night but got their act together to avoid the embarrassing loss and stay a game ahead of Bryant, who won a thriller over Mount St. Mary's.  Robert Morris lost at Long Island to fall two behind.
OVC - Murray State
The Racers dropped three games during the week of Thanksgiving and haven't lost since.  It's very possible they'll be playing for an unbeaten conference season in their season finale at the league's surprise package, Tennessee-Martin (whom they only beat by 3 at home last Saturday.)
Patriot - Colgate
Because God loves us, they lost at Holy Cross last night and now EVERYONE in this league is within 3 games of one another.  Bucknell losing at Lafayette on Wednesday played its part in helping create that parity and ensured that the Raiders keep the bid thanks to the head to head tiebreaker.
SoCon - Wofford
One point underdogs at 6-6 East Tennessee State for some reason, the Terriers won by 10 last night to stay a game ahead of Chattanooga, who barely survived at Furman.  Mercer remains two back after drilling The Citadel.
Southland - Stephen F. Austin
The Jacks and Kentucky are the only two teams who haven't lost since Thanksgiving.  Baylor's 67-51 win on Monday, November 24 was SFA's last loss, though that may change soon as after they host Houston Baptist tomorrow, their next three are on the road.
Summit - North Dakota State
The Dakota States keep trading this bid back and forth as South Dakota State lost at IPFW last night to hand it back over to the Bison.  Oral Roberts is tied with SDSU in the loss column but has lost to both them and NDSU already.
Sun Belt - Georgia Southern
The Cinderella story continues.  The Panthers, who were picked NINTH in the preseason Sun Belt coaches poll, defeated unanimous preseason favorite Georgia State last night to win their 5th in a row and 9th in 10.  Mark Byington won't get any national Coach of the Year love but maybe he should.
SWAC - Texas Southern
Two of their last three have gone to overtime, with Monday's 68-65 OT win over Alabama A&M following up the triple OT win at Mississippi Valley State on January 26.  In between the Tigers beat Alabama State to tie the APR-ineligible Hornets atop the standings and stay a game clear of everyone else.
WAC - New Mexico State
The Aggies remain a game ahead of UMKC, who won at Missouri on the opening night of the regular season, after surviving in OT at 5-19 Chicago State last night.  They're the only team in the league to have both an adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency inside the top 260 of KenPom.  This is a bad, bad league.
